2003 FACEOFF LUNCHEON A SUCCESS

The Phoenix Coyotes held their Eight Annual Faceoff Luncheon presented by Allied Waste on Wednesday, October 8, 2003 at the Arizona Biltmore - MacArthur Ballroom.  Coyotes fans were invited for their first chance to get a glimpse of the upcoming season both on and off the ice.

"The day was a tremendous success and I want to say thank you to everyone who helped support this event," said Coyotes Director of Community Relations/Managing Director of Coyotes Charities Heather Bennett.  "Once again attendance for the Luncheon was tremendous and I hope everyone involved had an enjoyable afternoon."

The Faceoff Luncheon officially begins the start of the 2003-04 season and allows individuals the opportunity to meet the Coyotes players and show their support for the upcoming season.

"The event is exciting because it is the start of a new season," said Coyotes captain Shane Doan, who has attended the Faceoff Luncheon each of the last eight seasons.  "It is nice to have the opportunity to sit down and have lunch with the fans and give them a chance to see a side of the players they don't always get to see."

This exciting event featured the first introduction of the entire 2003-04 team including players and coaching staff.  The Coyotes player draft, a special feature of the luncheon, aligns Coyotes corporate partners with a Phoenix player to represent them for charitable sponsorship in the name of Coyotes Charities. Players are sponsored for all goals, assists and saves the players make.

"I was once again drafted by one of our proud sponsors, Allied Waste, this year and hopefully we can produce for them and help raise some money for charity," said Doan.  "I have been able to meet some wonderful people through this event and I know everyone involved really enjoys the day."

The Coyotes honored their season ticket holders for their dedication to the team as well as their support towards Coyotes Charities. All season ticket holders who purchased either individual or table seats before September 22 were entered into a drawing to win a special opportunity to escort a player across the stage as they were announced at the 2003 Faceoff Luncheon.

"You always want to do something nice for the fans," said Phoenix defenseman Paul Mara.  "Throughout the season you always end up seeing the individuals you meet at the Luncheon and the support we receive is tremendous."
