Where will the
new arena be located?
The new site is
at the intersection of Loop 101 and Glendale Avenue in Glendale.
The arena will be conveniently reached from any location in the
Valley.
What will the
development feature other than the arena?
The mixed-use project
will feature up to 6.5 million square feet of development, including
restaurants, Class-A Office Buildings, entertainment and recreational
uses, hotels and residential living.
Why is this building
better than America West Arena for hockey?
America West Arena
was built as a basketball facility and, as a result, has almost
4,000 limited view seats for hockey games. All seats in the new
arena will be ideal for viewing a hockey game and all other events.
How does the new
scoreboard compare to the one at America West Arena?
Our new building
will have a state-of-the-art all-digital, center-hung scoreboard.
It will incorporate the very latest in technology including an 8-sided
scoring display and four, 9'x16' video displays. This will be used
to showcase more animation and videos as well as generate excitement
while the game is not in play.
What events will
take place there?
Our new building,
in addition to being home to the Coyotes, will host everything from
concerts and family shows to signature sporting events like figure
skating, basketball tournaments and All-Star games.
What are some
of the differences in the seating bowls of the two buildings?
In addition to
much better views of the ice, the sections and rows will be numbered
differently, so your assigned seat location may be labeled differently,
even though it has a similar perspective of the ice surface. See
the accompanying diagram to familiarize yourself with the section
numbering.
Will the new arena
meet all the standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act?
Definitely. Our
new arena is designed to exceed all standards and ensure this venue
will be enjoyable for all patrons to view hockey as well as other
events.
How is the cost
of building this arena being funded?
The city of Glendale
will fund up to $180 million for the construction of the multi-purpose
arena. The $180 million will consist of up to $30 million in general
obligation bond funding, and up to $150 million in excise tax funding,
which will be repaid through revenue generated directly from the
project.
